THROUGH SILENCE COMES CREATION
My most powerful and effective creative ideas come from “being,” not “doing.” Daily meditation and silence are key to opening the door to inspiration and intuition. When I am constantly doing, my problem-solving mind, or my intuitive mind, cannot be accessed with ease. The key to the success of my business and life is carving out dedicated time for silence, which leads to creative solutions. This is not just for spiritual leaders. The Walt Disney Company utilized meditation in the workplace after they noticed that employees came up with more creative solutions after meditating. If I can’t sit still for that long, I try a walking meditation to get my brain waves cleared from the day’s frustration. It’s a hard concept to let go of “doing,” but in the end, your creative brain waves can help with the breakthrough you have been waiting for.

DO SOMETHING UNEXPECTED IN NATURE
Whenever I’m in a creative funk, I put down my phone, go outside, and be with the stillness of nature. I love to study the way the leaves move in the wind, which takes the focus off the funk. In this age of technology, we are suffering a nature deficit. Glamping (glamorous camping) infuses my life with nature’s beauty and wonder while giving me the space to enjoy the outside without sacrificing comfort. Nothing moves me more than watching the sunset over the ocean in California burst with a thousand shades of yellow and red, or to be in Utah and look up into the sky to see the Milky Way. When was the last time you slept under a million stars? Nobody does creative like Mother Nature.

CREATIVITY MEETS CLARITY
I created a vision board three years ago right after I had a near death experience. I look at it every morning and every night. Each time, I am struck by how far I have come and it validates that I am just scratching the surface. With clarity comes progress.
