Winter is brutal on your skin. Wind, dry heat, snow and freezing cold are more than harmful, they can cause serious (and permanent) damage to that beautiful skin you’ve worked so hard for!

Never fear:our team of beauty experts and estheticians know there are a number of things you can do to winter-proof your skin and keep elasticity, hydration, and most importantly… your gorgeous glow! Here are our top 4 picks for the season:

Tip No. 1:
Avoid very hot water (both for face and body) because it will  break down your skin’s natural barrier of oils and protection. Instead, take a medium temperature shower and make sure to immediately apply a moisturizer within 3 minutes once you’re done: science has shown that moisture begins to leave the body after that precious window of opportunity is over! Of course, nothing is quite as cozy as a warm bath to combat winter blues… so to combat excess dryness, add a few pumps of natural Baby Oil into the water and be prepared to get the soft skin of your dreams.

Tip No. 2:
Make sure you’re using a cream instead of a lotion for both face and body. Lotions have a higher water content, which means less hydration for your parched pores. Plus, if applying before you enter the elements, excess water in your lotion may freeze and damage your skin! A lush and nutrient-dense Face Cream for will not only hydrate but also seal in moisture. For body care, choose a light but nourishing body cream with  shea butter and antioxidants to protect your skin from free radicals as well as the cold.

Tip No. 3:
Drink extra water… LOTS of it! While we think of summer as the main time to load up on hydration, dry indoor heat and harsh winds also rip moisture from our skin. Drink more water than you even think you need in order to compensate for the loss.

Tip No. 4:
Exfoliate. It’s good all-year-round, not just during the months where you’re showing more skin. In the winter, exfoliation will help to manage dead skin cell build up, which can end up looking like dryness and preventing your moisturizers from working efficiently. Use an all-over body polish like an organic Sugar Scrub which heals, exfoliates and soothes.
