This Almond Matcha Spinach smoothie recipe is particularly energizing thanks to an ample dose of matcha, an amazing coffee alternative. Drinkers of matcha report less feelings of anxiety, jittery muscles, and sleep deprivation. This smoothie will satisfy mid-day sugar cravings, too!
So let’s dig in and find out the benefits behind the ingredients in this #beautyfood smoothie:
- Almonds have a high content of vitamins E and B to help keep our skin vibrant, healthy and hydrated. For those without an intolerance (allergy), this nutritionally dense food contains the “good” fats as well as essential minerals.
- Matcha is a precious tea made from ground green tea leaves and sold in powder form. It contains catechin, which is a flavonoid compound high in antioxidants, only present in green teas. It also contains chlorophyll which helps skin become clear and radiant by alkalizing the blood; and Ltheanine which is shown to help in improving mental focus as well as having a relaxing effect.
- Hemp Seeds are high in proteins (including albumin, globulin and fibrin) which is imperative for healthy hair, skin and nails. Our hair and nails are made of a protein called keratin and our skin contains a large amount of protein. It’s said that our skin regenerates itself every 27 days! So we need to ensure that we have adequate amounts of protein for cell renewal.
- Spinach is packed with antioxidants which are shown to decrease the aging process and fight free radicals which can damage our skin. Spinach is loaded with micronutrients the body needs.
1 cup of water
1 cup of spinach
1 tbsp hemp seeds
2 tbsp matcha powder
1 cup of soaked and drained almonds
In a vitamix or blender, blend all of the ingredients together, serve immediately and SAVOR!
